Choosing an orthopedic surgeon
Choosing an orthopedic surgeon is an important decision. Not only is it essential to choose one with whom you feel comfortable, but you should also feel confident the surgeon is experienced in doing procedures you may require and in using materials and products that will work well for your unique situation.
All orthopedic surgeons are either medical doctors or osteopaths, who, after receiving their MD or DO degree, decide to specialize in the field of orthopedics. Once they make this choice, they begin a five year residency that focuses specifically on orthopedics (i.e. joints, bones and muscles). Two years after residency is completed, the doctor is eligible to become board certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons.
Dr. Scott is not only board certified, but is fellowship trained as well. A fellowship is a voluntary, extra year of training in a subspecialty. Dr. Scott's
fellowship was completed in Adult Reconstruction at the University of Utah where he retains active clinical staff privileges as Adjunct Assistant Professor. |
